Create Reference Copy

Project-specific machines can be used several times in a project with the help of reference copies. This is required in order to simulate multiple use in a physical machine in several work steps. The database of the machines is thus the same. Referencing is also important in cost allocation; the work step times are therefore used in those of the referenced machines.

If changes are made to a machine, the machines that are linked through the reference copy are locked and no other user can change their properties. After saving the machine that has been changed, all other linked machines are displayed with a red exclamation point. This notifies other users that this machine no longer has the current values and its data needs to be updated.

The values are not automatically changed on all machines in order to prevent users from changing the calculation unintentionally. This forces users to consciously implement and check their changes.

  1. Right-click the desired project-specific machine. The context menu opens.
  2. Select Copy in the context menu.
  3. Right-click on the process you wish to add the machine to. The context menu opens.
  4. Select Paste > Copy (Reference Copy) in the context menu.
  5. A reference copy of the machine was created. Both machines are now marked with the symbol .
