Evaluate the Project Across Multiple Projects

Business functions like calculation, financial controlling, sales, and purchasing often need to be analyzed not just for specific products but also for multiple individual products and product groups, as well as their variants and alternatives from a global perspective to support critical business decisions (e.g. business case calculation).

This "merging" of calculation data is displayed in FACTON as multi project.

Note

The multi project can only be used to analyze projects. It cannot be used to build a bill of materials (BOM).

Create a Multi Project

Create a project

  1. Select the folder in the Workspace Explorer that contains both projects PC Mouse and Optical PC Mouse.

  2. Select New > Multi Project in the Workspace Explorer quick access toolbar.

    The New Multi Project dialog opens.

  3. Enter "PC Mouse" in the Name input field.

  4. Select the currency "Euro (€)" from the Project currency combobox.

    Note: The currency cannot be changed later on.

  5. Click OK.

    The project is created and opened.

 

Add projects

Add both projects PC Mouse and Optical PC Mouse to the multi project.

  • The multi project is open.

  1. Select the project PC Mouse in the Workspace Explorer.

  2. Press and hold CTRL while selecting the second project Optical PC Mouse.

  3. Drag the selected projects to the project tree and drop them onto the highest level assembly "PC Mouse" in the multi project.

  4. Save the multi project. The multi project contains the PC Mouse project and Optical PC Mouse project.
