Calculate Casted Material

This quantity valuation offers you the material quantity calculation for casted materials, so that this rather complex calculation needn't be calculated and documented outside FACTON.

Alternatively, you can conduct an initial simple calculation if not all details of the quantity calculation are available and you can only enter the quantity.

Use the checkbox for this:

  • Detailed Quantity Calculation

    • For an initial, simple material quantity calculation

  • Detailed Quantity Calculation (default)

    • For the detailed material quantity calculation

The price per kg is determined using value rules based on dimensions

Further Information on material pricing, see Value rules at a material

The following example shows the detailed use of a material quantity calculation:

Step 1: Create Should Cost Calculation

Further Information > Create Should Cost Calculation

Step 2: Insert a Material (Mass)

By selecting the Calculate Casted Material quantity valuation, a more extended calculation logic becomes available.

Note

You can insert the material

The latter is shown in the following, because it illustrates the inputs required for calculation.

Insert a Local Material (Mass)

  1. Select the should cost calculation in the Structure view.
  2. In the ribbon, click on Edit > Insert > Insert New Local Material (Mass).

A local material is added under the should cost calculation.

  3. In the Details view > Calculation view scheme (combobox), select the following quantity valuation:

    • Calculate Casted Material

  4. Define the following properties for the material in the Details view > Calculation view scheme (combobox):

    Valuation *Calculate Costs
    Quantity Valuation Calculate Casted Material
    Detailed Quantity Calculation
    Density 7.85 g / cm³

Net Weight of Casted Part 0.50 kg / pc
    Number of cavities 4.00

    Machined Parts
Weight of the Machined Part 0.35 kg / pc

    Gating and Feeders
Weight of Gating System and Feeders 1.40 kg

    Melting Loss
    Melting Loss 0.15 kg

    Price Source Standard
Price per Unit 23.00 EUR / kg
Refund per Unit 15.00 EUR / kg

Based on the input, the following values are calculated:

Input Calculates the

Volume of Casted Part

( Consider Volume)

  • Volume of Machined Part
  • Weight of Chips
  • Share of Weight of Chips on Weight of Machined Part

Weight of the Machined Part

( Machined Parts)

  • Volume of Machined Part
  • Relevant Weight of Machined Part
  • Relevant Volume of Machined Part
Net Weight of Casted Part
  • Volume of Casted Part
  • Weight of Chips
  • Share of Weight of Chips on Weight of Machined Part
Number of Cavities
  • Weight of all Cavities

Weight of Gating System and Feeders

( Gating and Feeders)

  • Share of Gating System and Feeders Based on Weight of all Cavities
  • Volume of Gating System and Feeders
  • Weight of Gating System and Feeders per Part
  • Shot Weight
  • Shot Volume

Melting Loss > Melting Loss

( Gating and Feeders)

  • Melting Loss in % Based on Shot Weight
  • Melting Loss in % Based on Net Weight Casted Part
  • Melting Loss in % Based on Net Weight Machined Part
  • Weight of Recirculated Material of Gating System and Feeders
  • Share of Recirculated Material of Gating System and Feeders

Melting Loss > Feeder System Loss Rate

( Gating and Feeders)

  • Feeder System Loss (Fettling)
  • Weight of Recirculated Material of Gating Systems and Feeders
  • Share of Recirculated Material of Gating System and Feeders

In addition, the following values are calculated on the basis of these inputs:

  • Melting Weight
  • Melting Volume
  • Melting Weight per Part
  • Relevant Net Quantity
  • Markup Rate on Net Quantity
  • Markup on Net Quantity
  • Gross Quantity
  • Share of Recycling Material
  • Recycling Quantity
  • Loss Quantity Rate
  • Loss Quantity
  • Relevant Quantity

The following checkbox allows you to consider the inbound logistics costs per material unit.

After all inputs, the following costs are calculated and displayed as rounded figures in the Details view > Calculation view scheme (combobox):

Direct Material Cost incl. Inbound Logistics

An overview of the material costs can be found in the Details view > Cost Summary view scheme (combobox).

Details view > Cost Summary view scheme (combobox) in the Details view

The cost summary offers an overview on the cost breakdown and composition of the relevant material costs.

Example
Direct Material Cost Raw Material 13.75 EUR / pc
Inbound Logistics Cost 2.20 EUR / pc
Direct Material Cost incl. Inbound Logistics 15.95 EUR / pc
Material Overhead Cost 0.63 EUR / pc
Material Refund -2.25 EUR / pc
Material Cost 14.33 EUR / pc
